đŸčAlcohol Policy

Alcohol is generally permitted (and sometimes provided; check the drinks area for wine). Please don’t drink if you’re worried you might become disruptive, and if there are people working don’t disturb them. Because alcohol and tech stuff don’t mix well together, please drink in the social area or meeting room and not at the desks.

👘 Dress Code

Please wear clothes that you find most comfortable. Shorts, tank tops, gym clothing, sandals, are all okay with us!

😊 Be Nice, and Be Respectful

We want to nurture a supportive, deeply caring, and encouraging environment for everyone who uses our space. This is best accomplished when everyone tries their best to be nice and be respectful:

  1. Be considerate, especially of other people’s boundaries
  2. Try to communicate and act in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

Harmful or thoughtless behavior does not belong at our coworking space. This includes unwanted sexual attention, unkindness, repeatedly talking over someone, or not respecting someone's covid boundaries.

If you feel unwelcome or uncomfortable for any reason, please do let us know—we’ll do our best to make things better, because it’s important to us.

đŸ«‚ Inclusivity is Important

We want as many talented people as possible helping to solve the world’s most pressing problems. A lack of diversity within a community—diversity of demographics, of opinions, of skill sets and of experience—can become self-reinforcing, which can severely limit the ability of our community to effect change. Even when we don’t consciously exclude people, being the only representative of a certain demographic can make people feel uncomfortable or out of place, while in-group jargon and discussions that require specialized knowledge can be off-putting to new members. (While jargon is quite useful to communicate complex and nuanced topics, it’s good practice to define it if you’re not sure everyone listening is familiar with it.)

It’s not enough to have good intentions - these things happen by default and through unconscious systematic biases unless we think carefully about how our actions will be interpreted, so we take this issue seriously.
